Old-Timey Subway Train Campaign of the Day: To promote the upcoming second season of its critically acclaimed period series Boardwalk Empire, HBO, with a little help from NYC’s MTA, will install a throwback subway train that will run through September 25th — the show’s premiere date.
Details:

Starting on Saturday, September 3rd an authentic vintage 1920’s train will run on the express 2/3 track in Manhattan throughout September (specifically, from 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays). Originally operated by the Interborough Rapid Transit (IRT) system, the train began service back in 1917 and will once again be operational. Customers who have the opportunity to ride the vintage train will be transported back in time to the Prohibition era with authentic details such as rattan seats, ceiling fans and drop sash windows, as well as a custom branded interior featuring Boardwalk Empire-inspired period artwork.

NB: During the final weekend of the promo, HBO-branded people will be handing out complimentary MetroCards near the Times Square-42nd and 72nd street stations.

Letter Of Note of the Day: Andy Warhol’s landlord didn’t care much for the star-studded shindigs the pop art Bohemian was hosting in his legendary East 47th Street Factory, and let know as much in this professionally PO’d letter from 1965.
Partial transcript:

Dear Mr. Warhol:
We have been advised that you have been giving parties in the fourth floor space occupied by you. We understand that they are generally large parties and are held after usual office hours. We have found that your guests have left debris and litter in the public areas which you have never bothered to clean. Further, we feel that a congregation of the number of people such as you have had may be contrary to various applicable governmental rules and regulations and also might present a serious problem with the Fire Department regulations.
Your lease, of course, does not permit such use and occupancy and you hereby directed not to have any such parties in this building.
Very truly yours,

the mad adventures of a first-time roadie

hi kids!

so, some of you may know and some of you may not know that I’ll be on Warped Tour this summer with the amazing non-profit organization Keep A Breast. keeping with the theme of our generation that every thought, cough, and hiccup should be documented on the Internet- I’ve decided to change my blog from pointless posts about puppies and San Diego to a blog about me and my first time on tour (and all the fuck ups that will inherently go with it) so…please join me! or don’t. either way, it’s going to be quite a riot.
